Ein leidiges Problem - strittig in der Ansage (warum eigentlich?). Hier die offizielle Definition lt. Callerlab: starting formation - circle of two or more couples. Each dancer faces partner or directed dancer and does a left arm turn haf (180º) to face tin the opposite direction. Releasing armholds and moving forward, each dancer goes to the corner for a right arm turn hafl (180º). Each returns to the starting partner to courtesy turn to face center of the set or to follow the next call. STYLING: All dancers' hands in position for forearm turns, alternating left and right. When the coutesy turn portion of the dopaso is replaced by a different logical basic, then the styling reverts to that basic. TIMING: from start static square to finish of courtesy turn, 16 steps; to next call, 12. Die Diskussionen drehen sich um den Teil .....to courtesy turn to face the center of the set or to follow the next call. Viele Caller lehren danach: "wenn ich nichts dazu sage, dann wird courtesy turn getanzt, oder ich sage, was getanzt werden soll". Das kann man so sehen - muss aber nicht! Einige Kombinationen, besonders in singing calls z.B. der wohlbekannte "El Paso City", werden ohne Zusatz so getanzt, dass man anschließend mit dem Corner in eine promenade überleitet (...take your corner and promenade), einen "swing" (mit dem Corner) macht, oder die Herren in einen "right hand star" gehen. Das sind Klassiker und Traditionals! Es wäre besser, wenn die Definition etwas klarer ausgefallen wäre z.B. ......to either courtesy turn to face the center of the sent or follow the next call, ......oder:......to finish with a left arm turn and follow the next call. Denn: auch ein courtesy turn beginnt mit der linken Hand und die mundfaulen Caller wären so gezwungen, das in dieser Art anzusagen. Caller: Um jeglicher Unsicherheit der Tänzer, Diskussionen und potentiellen Problemen aus dem Weg zu gehen und eindeutig zu klären, was und wie anschließend zu tanzen ist: sagt den courtesy turn immer an! Tut das so weh?
