circle to a line (of four)

Eine Figur, die schwieriger zu erklären ist als zu tanzen. Nach anfänglichen Unsicherheiten 'wer öffnet wann und wo', begreifen die Tänzer dies aber sehr schnell und vergessen es nie wieder.

Sehr beliebt ist die Einführung mit lead right. Um zu vermeiden, dass die Tänzer glauben, dass "heads (sides) lead right and circle to a line" zusammen gehören, wurde lead right bereits vorher gelehrt - siehe Lektion 18

Ausgangsformation: facing couples

Zwei Paare bilden eine Kreis und drehen diesen exakt ein halbe Drehung (180°) nach links. Der führende Tänzer des ursprünglich innen stehenden Paares löst nun seine linke Handverbindung, geht etwas nach links und wird so zum linken Ende einer line of four. Die frei gewordene Dame dreht sich unter dem Armbogen, den sie mit ihrem Partner bildet, durch (ähnlich wie ein california twirl) und wird zum rechten Ende der line of four. Dabei schwenkt dieses Paar auf die Linie des anderen Paares zurück, bis die Formation line of four gebildet ist. Die Figur ist hier nur aus der normalen Position beider Paare beschrieben (Herren links, Damen rechts).

Übungen: callen Sie mehrere Male die folgende Kombination langsam und vielleicht mit directional calling (circle half way - centers ladies twirl out and move back to a line) als zusätzliche Hilfe.

Für den Sight Caller:

Achtung:Vor lead right and circle to a line brauchen Sie den Trick der einführenden ladies chain’s nicht anwenden, um danach in zero lines auflösen zu können.

Nach jeder erzielten box formation (eigentlich ist dies eine eight chain thru formation) kann circle to a line angesagt werden und das soll auch anfangs so oft wie möglich getanzt werden, bis es reibungslos klappt. Nach der circle to a line Figur wechselt man die sequence der Tänzer bisweilen (right and left thru – star thru), um auch den anderen die Gelegenheit zu geben, sich 'auszudrehen'. Danach wieder: star thru und geht es mit den Übungen weiter.

Sie können auch circle to a line aus anderen Positionen callen, wo sich die Herren z.B. ausdrehen müssen. Das soll aber hier noch nicht angewendet werden. Dies wären extended applications. Seien Sie froh, wenn die Tänzer dies aus der normalen Grundposition sicher beherrschen lernen. In Square Dance Klubs kann dies dann zu einem workshop Thema werden.
